Each winter term the drama department allows students to take full responsibility for the direction and production of a play. This year, two dramatic pieces are in production simultaneously. This weekend is the production of David Auburn’s Pulitzer Prize winning "Proof” (pictured) under the direction of senior Jamie Thompson. Next week we will see Steve Martin’s hilarious “Picasso at the Lapin Agile” under the direction of senior Kyler Taustin.
Another tradition for the winter term is the Children’s Acting Theater. Under the direction of Michael Littman, Proctor students perform short, witty plays based on traditional children’s tales and fables at area elementary schools. Friday’s assembly featured the children’s Acting Theater performing “The Ugly Duckling”.
Mountain Classroom is completing border studies in Mexico and southern Texas. They are maintaining their website with great photos and lots of interesting text. The site includes a web blog so you can leave your thoughts or comments.

While our electronic communication announced the selection of Mike Henriques early on Monday, Board co-Chairs Bill and Betsy Peabody addressed the whole community in Tuesday’s assembly, confirming the choice. Bill shared an anecdote demonstrating Mike’s great curiosity, and reflected on the significance of that trait to the Proctor experience.
Everyone involved with the search process commends the Committee for its diligence and openness. I sense much similarity between this year’s process and the work that resulted in my selection ten years ago. This is significant, because—unlike a whole community—a committee can reach consensus, and the strength of the committee’s recommendation empowers the new leader. With single focus on the match between the school and the candidates, this Search Committee accomplished something that I witnessed in 1994, and Mike will be the beneficiary—able to speak with both personal and professional passion for this school.
